I tried to make a five second test. It seems to be a bit too short… However, please try!
Geo-Visualisation
9 JunIf you combine visualization and maps you also find the subject Geo-visualization. It is about visualizing digital information in a space.
More information can be found in the Wiki-book:

Changed blog
3 JunToday we changed the lay-out of the blog!
From now on the pages on top can be used to see the work we have done for the course. The page ‘concepts map Delft‘ shows week by week the progress of the second assignment.
Inspirering information out of the book Visual Thinking for Design
19 MayMake use of symbols. They can be more powerful as words. See book p.123
‘ What is important about symbols is that the visual shapes have become cognitively bound to a particular non-visual cluster of concepts. Viewing these symbols causes an automatic and rapid activation of these concepts, although the degree to which this occurs will depend on the cognitive activity of the moment.’
We want to make use of dept cues. See book p. 89
‘turn our attention to the information available to the eye and brain from the towards-away dimension. This information is contained in what psychologists cal dept cues. Most dept cues consist of environmental information that we use to judge distances from our particular viewpoint.’
When we make use of dept cues we decided to design in a pictorial way. See book p. 90-93.
Pictorial way has a lot of interesting elements to work with. The once we now find the most interesting are:
- Perspectiveà size gradients
- Cast shadows
- Height on picture plain
- Shading
- Reference to nearby known objects
- Degree of contrast
Feedback on our posters during college
19 MayPoster Simone (color):
- There could be more contrast between the mil and the train
- The red of the heart makes the color of the heart more impressive
- The poster also concludes storytelling
- Good composition
- The hart could have a other color, like blue to express the coolness
Poster Isabel (composition):
- It would have been better if you show only one picture of the chaos
- The map on the poster is very organized and you want to express chaos
- Liked the Spoorzooi slogan
- Poster is also storytelling
Poster Maarten (third dimension) :
- There is a contradiction between the light tunnel and the text
- The poster looks more positive than negative
- Watch out with using proverbs
- Has also a lot of storytelling
Poster Heike(visual narrative):
- The crane could have been expressed stronger
- The Spoorzone red jumps out
- The crane breaks things, but also the word chaos. Contradiction.
- The crane should have been more like a dinosaur
- Should emphasis more on the crane and the buildings
- The light blue looks very sweet
